Chemistry-2
Grade 11 - 12
2 semesters – 1 credit
Prerequisites: Algebra and Chemistry 1 with grade of “C” or better.
Chemistry 2 is a continuation of Chemistry 1. Topics covered include equilibrium, electrochemistry,
thermodynamics, acid-base chemistry, nuclear chemistry, and an introduction to organic chemistry. This
class is highly recommended for students that will be required to take a college chemistry course. This
would include anyone planning to pursue a career in a health or science related field. Upon completion of
the two year chemistry program, a student should be very well prepared for a college chemistry course.
Students taking this class will:
• Be introduced to more difficult chemical concepts and their application
• Practice higher-level thinking and complex problem solving skills
• Learn about the more advanced topics in chemistry
