Prerequisites: Algebra and Physical Science with a grade of “C” or better
Chemistry 1 is an introductory course in chemistry that covers the structure and composition of matter in
both a quantitative and qualitative manner. Topics covered include measurement, atomic structure,
periodic table, naming compounds, writing formulas and equations, chemical equations, and gas laws.
This course is strongly recommended for students planning to attend a technical college or university,
especially in a medical, engineering, or other science-related field. Laboratory exercises are used to
support concepts.
Students taking this class will
